Lead Process Engineer

A leading global consulting and engineering business to the oil & gas and energy sectors requires a lead process engineer to provide process and systems engineering input to studies / projects covering the entire project life cycle.
This responsibility includes:
Individual calculation effort, preparation of Basis of Design documents (BOD’s) front-end studies, process engineering input to detailed design and start-up / operational support;
Organisation and management of small scale modification projects, supported by more senior personnel;
Ensure through direction and guidance of personnel that the engineering work is progressed efficiently, to maintain schedule without compromising on quality.
Responsibilities :
Lead Process Engineers will be expected to:
- Participate in business development through consolidation of existing client relationships;
- Participate in process and multi-discipline study teams in the execution of projects ranging from conceptual studies for greenfield developments to brownfield modifications of existing facilities;
- Provide input to operational support and troubleshooting activities;
- Prepare project deliverables as required, including Basis of Design documents, PFDs / P&IDs;, datasheets, Cause & Effect diagrams etc;
- Have experience in process calculations including equipment sizing and specification;
- Have a working knowledge of process simulation and flow assurance tools including HYSYS, PIPESIM, OLGA and FlareNet;
- Assist younger engineers in execution of project activities;
- Carry out screening studies and develop BOD’s in support of potential engineering projects and brownfield plant modifications;
- Carry out process simulations and optimization studies for selected projects and prepare Process Flow Schemes with mass balances and equipment sizes;
- Provide detailed process engineering input during all design phases as required by the client, including interpretation of industry standards;
Qualifications / Skills Required:
The successful candidate will have a Degree in Chemical Engineering and professional membership with the Institution of Chemical Engineers or equivalent, or meet the requirements for Corporate membership of the IChemE. You will have a background in the oil and gas industry, downstream refinery experience, or experience in a related industry, with some of this in a multi-discipline design environment. The role requires excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
